Overview
The Wills Eye Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) course sponsored by SEE International is a half-day, mixed virtual and live course in which students will learn the step-by-step process for the surgical procedure. Trainees will have the opportunity to learn at their own pace with course materials provided ahead of time, so they are prepared for the day of the wet lab. On Sunday, May 2nd, students will meet for a short refresher lecture and case discussion with experts in the field, after which time they will adjourn to the wet lab where they will have the opportunity to practice the steps of the procedure under a surgical microscope.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Explain the latest developments in Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS).
  2. Participate with a mentor in low-technology MSICS in humanitarian setting.
  3. Demonstrate the skills needed for proficiency in this procedure.

Accreditation
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Wills Eye Hospital and SEE International. Wills Eye Hospital is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
