This course is designed to update the pediatrician, primary care physician, allied health professional and ophthalmologist on common ocular problems in the pediatric age group.  Emphasis will be on techniques for vision screening to detect amblyopia and strabismus.  Diagnosis and treatment of eye infections and the red eye in children will be discussed. New technologies to help the visually impaired will be presented


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss important new advances in the etiologies, diagnosis, and treatment/prevention of pediatric eye diseases and strabismus.
  2. Identify basic and clinical vision research that can be transformed into improved clinical care.
  3. Assess the role of new technologies in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric eye diseases.
  4. Describe factors that impact the effective delivery of the highest quality eye care for the pediatric patients, and patients with strabismus.
  5. Identify clinical, scientific, and ethical issues confronting the profession.
  6. Obtain information and tools through multiple facets to help ophthalmologists deliver high and efficient quality of care.

Accreditation
Wills Eye Hospital is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Statement Designation
