Ophthalmologists require improved training on differentiating between visual impairments due to cataracts and corneal diseases. This includes better use of diagnostic tools, such as corneal topography and endothelial cell counts, and the development of tailored management strategies for patients with corneal pathologies undergoing cataract surgery.

Surgeons need education on how to integrate glaucoma management with cataract surgery, including adjusting surgical techniques and using combined procedures (e.g., MIGS) to optimize IOP control. There is also a need for training on preoperative planning and appropriate IOL selection in glaucoma patients to improve visual and IOP outcomes.

Ophthalmologists must gain knowledge on how retinal conditions affect cataract surgery outcomes, and they should be encouraged to use advanced diagnostic tools like OCT to assess macular health preoperatively. Education on personalized surgical planning-especially in terms of IOL selection and timing of surgery-is essential to meet patient expectations and optimize results.

1. Analyze challenging cataract surgery cases and evaluate the management of intraoperative and postoperative complications that lead to successful visual outcomes
2. Assess different techniques in approaching complicated corneal cases.
3. Differentiate underlying causes of postoperative complications and improve follow-up management
4. Utilize a multidisciplinary approach for patients who require subspecialty care from multiple teams
5. Plan care for successive treatments in patients requiring more than one procedure
